Problem

Fraud Net is a leader in fraud detection across multiple industries, but its outdated website had not been updated in years. It gave the impression of an obsolete and outdated company.

We took on the challenge of redesigning the site. Along with a complete rebranding, we modernized the look and feel of Fraud Net to reflect current design trends and position the company as an innovative and forward thinking player, ready to compete in today’s fast moving and global security landscape.

Outcome

We launched these redesigns just a couple of months ago. We implemented analytics and improved SEO, and now we’re waiting for the first results to compare how the new website performs.

What is clear is that the new redesign was very well received by the entire Fraud Net team. Everyone expressed their happiness and great enthusiasm after six months of work and collaboration. The design, interactions, and content were all improved to make the site more attractive to potential clients.

Defining work flow and initial steps

While the marketing team worked on the new website content, we ran a workshop with key stakeholders to define the new information architecture. We analyzed competitors and reviewed websites the client admired. I also created a couple of style tiles to help define the visual direction and set the tone for the new user interface.

Information Architecture

Together with the FraudNet team, we built a clearer content structure and navigation system. We separated solutions from industries, grouped all resources into a single category, and reorganized pages that previously didn’t belong to any section to create a more consistent and intuitive experience.

Competitor Analysis

We reviewed competitor websites to see what they were doing visually and also explored other sites for inspiration. We looked for inspiration, ideas and elements we could implement to improve both the user experience and the overall design.

Ideation and style tiles

The style tiles helped us explore possible visual ideas for the website, including color, typography, forms, imagery, and their application in more complex design blocks. At the same time, the new logo was being redesigned with a different color palette to move away from traditional tech colors.

Sketching ideas

I began by sketching different layouts to define the various content blocks, experimenting with columns and structure that would help organize the content once finalized.

This process allowed me to clearly and visually understand how the elements could be arranged hierarchically and how the spacing between them would work.

Home and core components

With the home page content ready, we began designing it by starting with the base components like the header, footer, hero sections, and CTAs. We applied the brand colors and focused on creating a consistent, attractive, and simple design that was primarily informative to attract potential clients.

We iterated several times until we achieved a result that was both visually appealing and informative. We updated certain style tile elements, such as using a trendy typography and gradients. With help from the marketing team, we made sure the content and design told an engaging story for users.

Building Content Blocks

With the content in hand, we created different blocks to present the information in a clear and visually appealing way. These blocks would be repeated across the various pages to maintain simplicity, order, consistency, and coherence.

Responsive Designs

After completing the desktop web pages, blocks, and components, we moved on to designing for tablets and mobile devices. The most challenging part was adapting the infographics and illustrations to smaller screens, but in the end, we successfully made the site responsive and effective across all devices.

Key Takeaways

My role in this project was Lead Product Designer. I was in direct contact with the client and the marketing team, while also leading designers and illustrators, and ensuring that the web development matched the original design as closely as possible. It was one of the most challenging projects I’ve worked on—not because of my role as Lead Designer, but because of the client. Working with them caused a lot of stress, with endless changes and constant rollbacks to previous versions based on whims, often setting aside a better user experience and stronger design.

The original timeline was three months, but it extended to six, either due to unlimited revisions, extra pages and designs not included in the original contract, or a lack of content and updates from the client. Despite all the obstacles, we achieved a very strong result, and FraudNet is happy with what we delivered. For next iteration, we plan to add more interaction and animation to create a more elegant website and elevate the overall experience.
